B.D. stands for BONE DOME, the original name given to the helmet created for the soldiers of the First World War. This modern day version is also inspired by a War of sorts, that of the internal struggle. The piece reflects pieces of the artist’s life, be it the Broken lock from a failed motorcycle theft; a pencil snapped in a moment of creative fury; a set of stained used army bonicholas, the scratches left unfinished, as a scar and ode to their past endeavours. The edition of the LED light is reflective of lasers used to track a bullet’s’ trajectory, the ‘line of sight’ principle’. This brings into focus not only the piece itself, but the fragility of one’s life in general. This is a sculpture about confrontation, protection and what it means to stand up for oneself with head held high.
